I can’t bring my self to throw out yarn. Even if its just a couple of yards, I can’t. I have taken to tying it together and making huge balls of yarn. I made several granny squares blankets but yet still found my self with lots of yarn left over.
I took about 8 strands of it and started to see what would happen. To create the color changes 3 of the balls were normal and 3 were my odd balls. I tried to keep the thickness of the yarn consistent.
Notions:
The biggest crochet hock you can find.
Sticky rug back stuff.
Yarn:
Lots and lots of scrap yarn. A lot of it was cotton so I hope that will make the rug some what absorbent.
First Rug:
Chain six.
Sc in each chain (six times)
Sc 4 times in the end of the chain.
Sc in the opposite of the chain six times.
Sc 4 times in the other end of the chain.
Continue to sc around the oval. Making 3 sc in each corner. Continue into the rug is as big as you desire.
Second Rug:
SC 7, sc in the second chain from the hook (six sc).
Sc 3 times in the end to turn.
Six sc across the next side.
Sc 3 times in the end to turn and join to form a complete round.
Continue sc until you get to the corner, in each corner HDC, chain, 2 and HDC again. On the following rounds you will be hdc into the chain 2 space.
Third Rug:
Take a blanket that you don't like and don't use and felt the hell out of it.

To keep your self from dying in some sort of horrible accident it would be good to put some sticky on the stuff. Mine required some light blocking to flatten it out a bit.

I love this blog!!! I made a bunch of rugs in a similar fashion for my dogs about 6 years ago. I almost have enough yarn now to make them another set. :-)
