Felted Bowl Pattern

Easy Felted Bowl Pattern

If you want to get rid of your feltable yarn this is a great pattern to stash bust.
I didn't know what I wanted to do with the yarn that I had spun. The person that taught my class suggested a felted bowl. All of the patterns I found were very complicated, so I made one for my self.

Needles: Size 15 circular. (You could easy go up or down a size depending on the weight of your yarn.)
Yarn: The first bowl is my hand spun yarn. On the WPI tool showed it to be a bulky.
The second bowl is two strands of lamps pride worsted held together. The very top of it was a Patton's Soy Stripes SWS.

Pattern:
CO 15 stchs.
Work 30 rows in garter stch.
Pick up 15 stchs on side two, pick up 15 more stchs on the 3rd side, pick up 15 more stchs on the 4th side, place marker to indicate start of round.

Knit in the round until you run out of yarn, or the bowl is a big as you want it to be. CO using your favorite method. The bowl will shrink between 30% to 50%.

A note on felting:
To make this stiffer you will want to felt this more than you would a bag or a hat. I ran the hand spun yarn thru the wash 4 times, and the lambs pride thru 2 times.

A note on making the bowl bigger or smaller:
To knit a square bottom knit twice as many rows as stchs (IE 20 stchs, and 40 rows).

Ooooooooooooooooooooh. Nice felted bowls. I just paid to take a felted bowl class, but you can bet I'll be trying yours, too.

I just bought a pattern for a felted bowl. It was one you had to use their yarn for or it wouldnt turn out. Wish I would have found your pattern first! I'll be felting my heart out this week!

Hi There - What a great pattern! I've added a link to it from the Free Pattern directory on The Daily Knitter at http://www.DailyKnitter.com. Would you be so kind as to add a link on your site to us? Thanks, Corinne, The Daily Knitter
